Arkansas
Parental Rights After Miscarriage (as of October 2023): In Arkansas, parents have the right to the release and burial of their child, with HB 1407 requiring the release of the deceased to the "patient or authorized person," or a respectful "incineration, burial, or cremation.”. (Please note: A report is mandatory if stillbirth occurs after 20 weeks of gestation.)
St. Bernards Healthcare
Today, St. Bernards announced the beginning of an infant memorial program, which commemorates any life lost at the hospital from conception up to 12 weeks. St. Bernards is among the first in the region to establish a program of this kind. A memorial stone, bench and corner markers now mark the grave located at Holy Cross Cemetery in Jonesboro.
Good Mourning Grief Support Groups
Good Mourning Grief Support Groups are for children and teens who have experienced the death of a family member or friend. The goal of the Grief Support Groups is to assist children and teens with the grieving process by providing support and education about death, grief, and coping. There is no charge for group members as the program is provided at no charge due to the generous support of the Arkansas Children's Hospital Auxiliary.
