Parental Rights After Miscarriage (as of October 2023): In New Mexico, parents have the right to the release and burial of their child. (Please note: A death certificate is mandatory if a stillbirth occurs after 20 weeks of gestation or if the baby weighs 18 ounces or more at the time of birth.)
The Compassionate Friends
If you are a member (or a friend) of a family that has suffered the death of a child, The Compassionate Friends is here to help you and provide support for the family. New Mexico Doula Association
An experienced loss doula is trained to recognize the process of grief and recovery, and they provide clients with support in a variety of ways, including sitting together in silence, providing personal and in-home care services, performing rituals and blessings, planning funeral services, and referring clients to maternal mental health professionals.
Wallin & Luna
This six-week group is designed for couples who are having difficulty coping with pregnancy loss. It offers a supportive place to share the emotional pain of miscarriage. While the primary focus of this group is peer support we do teach:
coping skills
self-care
how to better understand the grieving process
Consider joining this healing and dynamic group if you are having trouble dealing with your loss. The sessions are divided up so that some of the sessions are for the couple to attend together and others where the men and women break into separate groups.

Share offers in-person and online support groups for grieving families in New Mexico.
The Grief Center
The Grief Center provides support groups, workshops and resources for all who grieve; children, teens and adults. Thanks to donors and community supporters, there is never a charge for grief support services.
MISS Foundation
Offering grief support for the death of a child at any age for any reason (including miscarriage and stillbirth). Parents, grandparents, and teen or adult siblings are welcome. Meets second Thursday of every month. We’ve been meeting since 2014.
El Campo Santo
El Campo Santo is dedicated to their families and feels deeply the loss that has occurred to you and your family. We know there are never the right words to say but El Campo Santo can try to ease your pain by giving you and your family resource information that may help ease the loss.
