Parental Rights After Miscarriage (as of October 2023): In Georgia, parents have the right to the release and burial of their child, but must give authorization for final disposition if the baby leaves the hospital. (Please note: A death certificate is mandatory for all miscarried babies.)

Embrace Ministry (Immaculate Heart of Mary)

Embrace is a ministry that embraces families who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death.  Embrace provides comfort, support, and education. 

The mission of All Embrace, Inc. is to embrace all families, regardless of faith, who have lost a child from miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death.  While operating within Roman Catholic values, Embrace surrounds families with God’s love through compassionate support, honoring their baby’s life and integrating the loss into their family.

Piedmont Healthcare

For parents, families and friends who have experienced a loss through miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death. Meets second Thursday of each month in the Foundation Education Center from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Call 770-320-7059 for more information.

Wellstar Health System

Wellstar hosts a Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support group that takes place on the second Tuesday of the month from 7:00 pm- 8:30 pm. This group is available to families seeking additional support after the loss of a child to miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death. The support group is currently virtual.

Archdiocese of Atlanta

Bereavement ministries are parish-based.  Call your parish for support from your clergy and to find out if the parish has an active bereavement ministry.  This may include funeral ministries offering practical help as well as emotional support when a loved one dies.  Some parishes offer support groups or other caring ministries for the time a loved one is dying or for help living without the one who died

Rock Goodbye Angel

Services and resources are given at NO COST to bereaved parents. RGA provides encouragement, material resources, weekly peer support meetings, remembrance events and other relative activities to assist in the grieving process.

WellStar Health System offers compassionate and professional support after the loss of a child to miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death. All of our groups are co- facilitated by Women’s Services Chaplain, Reverend Elata Dowdy, M. Div., BCC and Bereavement Supervisor, Roxanne Graham. Come as your heart leads. We are here to offer care and support as you walk your Journey toward healing.
