Kentucky

Parental Rights After Miscarriage (as of October 2023): In Kentucky, parents have the right to the release and burial of their child. (Please note: A death certificate is mandatory if a stillbirth occurs after 20 weeks of gestation or if the baby weighs 12 ounces or more at the time of birth.)

Missing Alexis Foundation

Alexis MacKenzie Louden was stillborn at full term on July 7, 2004. Having seen an incredible lack of pregnancy and infant loss grief resources in the Northern Kentucky community, the Missing Alexis Foundation was established in 2008 to begin meeting this need. For the past 12 years, we've been providing memory boxes, sponsoring the annual NKY Walk to Remember, hosting the monthly HEARTS Pregnancy & Infant Loss support group, and have just hosted the 1st  annual Angel Gala!

HEARTS of Northern Kentucky

HEARTS of NKY (an outreach of the Missing Alexis Foundation) is one of the ONLY pregnancy and infant loss support groups exclusively serving families of Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati. HEARTS and its members strive to provide caring support, encouragement and compassion during this  difficult grief journey.

Pregnancy After Loss Support

Lexington – Pregnancy & Parenting After Loss Support Group meets from 11:00am – 12:30 noon the first Wednesday of each month at Baptist Health Lexington, 1740 Nicholasville Rd, Building E. Meetings are held in the lower level in the rooms listed above. Free valet parking is available in the attached East Garage. Call (859) 260-6904 or e-mail dmueller@bhsi.com for more information. This group is for anyone who has had a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, newborn death, SIDS OR SUIDS. It is not a therapy group, but a self-help support group. Reservations are not necessary, nor is there a fee. This group is available to you no matter who your doctor is, where you delivered, and regardless of how long it has been since your loss. Each meeting begins with introductions, followed by a topic of discussion and then open sharing. Discussion is not limited to the presentation topic; each meeting includes independent sharing based on concerns and interests expressed by the participants in addition to specific topics. Interaction among the group is encouraged, however, no one is required to participate more than what is comfortable. A Perinatal Bereavement Support Person is at each meeting as the facilitator. Please feel free to attend any meeting.
